Considerable improvements in clinical work and learning environments in every healthcare setting must be prioritized for all disciplines to prevent and mitigate clinician burnout and foster wellbeing for the overall health of medical professionals, patients, and the nation. According to The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, & Medicine (2019), “between 35 and 54 percent of U.S. nurses and physicians experience burnout symptoms, along with 45 to 60 percent of medical students and residents.” Many studies have indicated burnout to be a common problem among all clinical disciplines and across care settings.
